Subaru Outback AWD Sport XT and Outback AWD Touring XT – with the extra power, more torque, and increased acceleration of the 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer engine – have an impressive 2,400kg⁸ braked towing capacity. For those with a lighter load to tow and an eye on fuel efficiency, the 2.5-litre Boxer engine provides a 2,000kg⁹ braked towing capacity.

Hands full? No worries - your Outback has you covered with a hands-free powered tailgate.

Placing an elbow or your body near the sensor around the rear badge (while in possession of the smart key) enables touch-free opening of the tailgate - providing convenience you won't want to live without. Hands-free powered tailgate is a standard feature on all variants, excluding the entry level variant.

The Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist system uses cameras and radar sensors – positioned at the front, side and rear of the vehicle – to support a host of primary functions and advanced intelligent features that help avoid potential collisions.

Subaru's Vision Assist is advanced technology that gives you greater awareness of the world around you.

Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB)

Detects obstacles behind you and alerts you when there’s a risk of collision. Plus, it can even step in to apply the brakes in the event that you don’t.

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)

Features sensors that let you know when there’s something in your blind spots to help make lane changes safer.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)

Warns you when another car is approaching from the side whilst reversing - cutting-edge technology designed to help keep your family safe.

Distraction warning

Subaru DMS²¹ recognises that at times the driver may be distracted, which is why a buzzer alert and visual display will warn the driver if their gaze continues to wander outside a set range.

Dozing or drowsiness warning

The DMS²² uses near infrared LEDs and a camera to observe the driver’s eyes and recognise when their attention is waning or if they start to fall to sleep. An alert can warn them, and give a gentle reminder to refocus on the road ahead or take a break if necessary.

Facial recognition

The intelligent facial recognition system can identify up to five separate drivers and then automatically personalise the cabin to their preferences - adjusting a range of settings including the climate control and Multi-Information Display (MID) screen.
